‘Chick Lit’ is a term that is used all the time for your books. It actually came after Sex and the City became a bestseller. What does ‘chick lit’ mean to you.
- Honestly, I don’t know.
How did Writing begin for you?
- At 8, I knew I wanted to be a Novelist. I was in New York when I was 19 and I was encouraged to write something about that time.
Carries Diaries 2 is coming out soon. Do we see Sex and the City meeting Carries Diaries?
- Well, she does meet Samantha and Miranda in this second book.
How much of ‘you’ is there in your writing?
- For these books I did draw my emotions. The younger Carrie is allot similar to what I was, I would say, though I never really had a good looking boyfriend.
And then Carrie as a Writer is trying to find her voice, she I am too. So, yeah, I did draw emotions that I felt at that time.
What is it that makes your ‘chick lits’ a must bedside book for every young girl?
- You know, when I started, I was told no one wants to read about a young woman in New York City in her 20s and 30s. But then there is a huge audience of chick lit books. Young women identify with these characters. There is real passion for such books.
You have written a book, had it adapted into a TV Series and a Movie too. How do you see the three mediums?
- Movies, Book and TV are different mediums. TV Series being the opposite of it all. There are so many variables that go into Television Production. It is very collaborative, structured and should go as long as possible. I totally dislike being on sets.
Do you think Books adapted into Movies do justice to already existing good literature?
- Depends allot on Luck.
Your favorite Adaptation.
- Breakfast at Tiffanys and BBC series of Pride and Prejudice.
